Western Draws and Loses in Double Header Scrimmage Day in Orem

On Saturday in Orem Utah the Western Wyoming Mustangs ended their spring break by playing against the Madison Dragons and the Utah Valley Club team.

First match of the day was against the Madison Dragons.  The Dragons are a club team from Rexburg Idaho mainly consisting of students from BYU - Idaho.  McKay Smith and Jaclyn Edwards both saw their first action of the spring on the day.  After the first 35 minutes of play the score was even at zero points a piece.  In the second half the scoreless tie was broken when Madeline Kendrick scored in the 40th minute after a WWCC corner kick.  WWCC took a 2 to 0 lead in the 56th minute when Maylee Thompson scored off of a Kylee Manning assist.  The Mustang lead would not stick as the Dragons would score their first goal from a penalty kick in the 58th minute.  The tying goal for Madison came in the 68th minute off of a corner kick.  The Mustangs would have to settle for a 2 to 2 draw in the scrimmage.

Just half an hour later the Mustangs played against the host UVU Club team.  WWCC played less organized with tired legs in this match up.  The UVU club team controlled much of the scrimmage.  The halftime score was 0 to 0.  In the second half the Wolverines scored in the 46th and 49th minute to take a lead that the Mustangs could not climb back from.  The end of the second scrimmage was UVU Club 2 and WWCC 0.

Up next for the Mustangs is another scrimmage versus UVU Club in Orem Utah on Saturday April 13th.
