Vanessa De Leon a soon to be graduate from Riverton High School in Riverton Utah has signed her National Letter of Intent to play college soccer at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.
Vanessa played on the Riverton High soccer team for 4 years. She lettered for RHS her junior and senior year. During her final two years with the Lady Silver Wolves, De Leon helped her team to two UHSAA 6A 1st Round playoff appearances.
Vanessa plays as a holding midfielder most of the time. She can also have an impact on a match on the back line and as an attacking midfielder. In her action at RHS she netted one goal, scoring on her senior night against rival Copper Hills. Vanessa was awarded honorable mention all region after her junior season, fall 2017. De Leon also earned a 2nd team all region player in the fall of 2018, after her senior season.
For comp soccer Vanessa is currently playing for Ajax, who are a Premier 1 League member.
Besides soccer Vanessa was also a member of the RHS track team during her sophomore and junior year.
Vanessa is a good student with a high school GPA of 3.7. De Leon is attending J.A.T.C. and is in the dental assisting program. She is also actively engaged with H.O.S.A.. She is also currently in several college concurrent enrollment class such as Math and English. Vanessa believes that she will seek her Pre-Health Associates while at Western Wyoming Community College.
Vanessa said, "I’m grateful for my parents, for giving me the opportunities I have and for pushing me to work hard. My parents always support me in everything I do. I love my family extremely." When she was asked about her past teams and coaches, De Leon commented, "I’d like to thank my coaches and assistant coaches that have taught me over the years. I’m grateful for the experience I have had with them and the valuable lessons they have taught me in and out of soccer. I’ve had many coaches and I am thankful for each one of them. I am also grateful for all the friends I have made through soccer."
