Cassie Southwick Joins WWCC Soccer

Cassie Southwick a senior at Real Salt Lake Academy High School has signed her National Letter of Intent to play soccer for the Mustangs of Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs Wyoming.

Cassie is a skillful player who we saw play during a soccer camp and again when she visited the WWCC campus for a tryout.  Cassie feels comfortable in many positions on the pitch.  She can play as an outside back and in the midfield.  When she plays in the midfield she has enough toughness and talent to play both a defensive midfielder or an attacking mid.  We are not sure which spot of the many positions that Cassie can play will benefit WWCC the most for fall 2019 but we know that she will contribute to our squad almost immediately.

Southwick's experiences while playing soccer will help her quickly adjust to the collegiate game.  She was captain of the Sparta Premier 1 club soccer team from 2017 - 2019.  She played ODP soccer for two years along with being a part of the DPL in 2018 and 2019.  Along with her experiences Cassie also found success with her teams.  Being crowned Rage tournament champions in 2017 and 2018.  Most recently Cassie was part of the 2019 Mayor's Cup championship team.

Cassie was a part of the Real Salt Lake Academy High School team coached by Becky Hogan.  She was voted as the Most Valuable Player for the 2018-2019 season for her high school team.

Southwick is a great student always finding herself on the honor roll after each grading period throughout all of her high school days.  Cassie plans of seeking her Associate's Degree in Pre-Physical Therapy.

We are elated to have signed such a wonderful player and person at WWCC.  We know that she will be a welcome addition to Mustang Soccer.
