On Wednesday evening the Western Wyoming women hosted the 12th ranked LCCC Lady Golden Eagles in Rock Springs for a Region IX North match.WWCC looked pretty good throughout the match. The Mustangs created more possession, offense and shots against LCCC then they had in years. LCCC scored once in the first half off of an errant Mustang back pass that a LCCC forward intercepted and scored 28th minute. The halftime score was LCCC 1 and WWCC 0.
The Mustangs liked their chances going into the second half and the adjustments for the final 45 minutes appeared to be correct. In the 47th minute a LCCC midfielder hit a near perfect shot from about 22 yards out to beat Markell Freeman in the Western Wyo goal. This second goal for LCCC deflated the Mustangs. WWCC again played better than normal against a talented LCCC side but were not able to find the back of the net and after 90 minutes of play the final score was LCCC 2 and WWCC 0. The loss brings the Mustang overall record 7 - 6 - 1 and 4 - 2 - 1 in Region IX North play. This win for LCCC wraps up the Region IX North Regular Season title for the Golden Eagles.
