On Thursday morning in Sterling CO the Mustangs played against Region IX South member Northeastern Junior College Lady Plainsmen. This match was less than 24 hours from one of WWCC best matches of the season versus LCCC.
Western did not waste a lot of time to get on the board when Emma Barnes collected an errant pass from NJC and hit a 40 yard shot over the Lady Plainsmen keeper in the 5th minute of play. For the rest of the half the scored remained the same. WWCC had some close calls with Claire Morales and Maylee Thompson getting shots on goal. In the goal, the Mustangs played all three keepers with each keeper getting 30 minutes of play. Madeline Kendrick started in goal, with Markell Freeman playing the next 30 minutes and Lindsey Lemmons finishing off the match. The score at the halftime intermission was WWCC 1 and NJC 0.
In the second half WWCC continued to win most of the possession but had a difficult time finding the correct combination to score another goal. The WWCC defense continued to keep NJC's attack at bay and keep the clean sheet.
