Final Scrimmage Gets WWCC Offense Back on Track

On Saturday morning in Henderson Nevada the Mustangs had their final scrimmage of the fall 2018 season when they played against Downtown Soccer Club '00.

Because this was the fourth game in four days and the final scrimmage of the season Western started with a different lineup starting eight freshman.  The freshmen did a great job of setting the tone of the match with good movement off of the ball and nice passing.  Kaylee Giles scored the first goal of the scrimmage off of an Emma Barnes assist in the 33rd minute of play.  Jordan Gibson scored a second for WWCC in the first half in the 43rd minute with Kylee Manning providing the assist.  The score at the break was 2 to 0 in favor of Western.

In the second half the Mustangs continue to play good soccer and added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute when a Maylee Thompson cross was received by Lizzy Clark, who placed it brilliantly in the top corner.  The final score for the scrimmage was WWCC 3 and Downtown Soccer Club 0.  Madeline Kendrick and Lindsey Lemmons shared the shutout for the Mustangs in the net.

Mustang Valuable Player:  Kaylee Giles - Kaylee played very well as a starter and scored her first goal for WWCC.
