Western Keeps Winning versus TSJC

On Saturday less than 24 hours after an emotional win versus Gillette College the Mustangs played against the Trinidad State Junior College Lady Trojans in Rock Springs at Rock Springs High.

The scoring break through for WWCC started in the 32nd minute when Brittney Nisson hit in a left footed shot off of a Tessa Herbert assist.  With the momentum for the match the Mustangs scored again in the 38th minute when Madisyn Cantrell used her speed to collect a MaKayla Barnes assist for the Mustang's second goal.  The halftime score was 2 to 0 for WWCC.

In the second half the Mustangs continued to barrage the TSJC goal.  In the 50th minute Kenzie Lucas did some great work on the sideline and was able to send in a nice low cross that Emma Barnes easily put away.  A fourth goal for WWCC came in the 56th minute when Emma Barnes netted her second goal of the match off of a steal from the opposition and took a beautiful shot from about 20 to 25 yards out.  The second Emma Barnes goal made the score 4 to 0 in favor of the Mustangs.  Give the Lady Trojans credit they did not quit in spite of the score and they added a goal in the 64th minute.  The score would remain the same in the final 20 plus minutes as many WWCC players got needed and deserved playing time.  The final score was WWCC 4 and TSJC 1.  The Western Wyoming record is now 7 - 4 - 0.

Mustang Valuable Player: Emma Barnes for her brace (2 goals) on the day.
