On Wednesday in Cheyenne WY the Mustangs squared off against the #3 NJCAA Ranked LCCC for the second time in the season. The last time these teams played the LCCC offense was hard to contain and scored 8 on the Mustang defense.
The first half started much like the first game of the year. LCCC scored in the 11th and 12th minutes to take an early 2 goal lead. WWCC settled down a little and played fairly well with the wind in their face. At the halftime break it was LCCC 2 and WWCC 0.
After a good halftime and making some adjustments to play with the wind at their back the Mustangs came out with renewed hope, sadly the LCCC team squashed the hope by scoring quickly after the 2nd half whistle in the 46th minute. WWCC put some offense pressure on LCCC in the 2nd half with shots from Kenzie Lucas, Madisyn Cantrell, Yridian Cardenas and Jaclyn Edwards. LCCC added one more goal in the 86th minute for a 4 goal lead. The final score was 4 for LCCC and 0 for Western. The loss drops the WWCC record to 7 - 7 - 0 and 3 - 4 - 0 in Region IX North. The Mustangs have wrapped up a playoff spot and the #3 seed from Region IX North.
Mustang Valuable Player: Jessica Arevalo for solid play and sticking to the game plan.
