Sisters Makayla & Emma Barnes from Box Elder High in Brigham City Utah have signed their National Letters of Intent to play NJCAA Women's Soccer at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.
Both Emma and Makayla impressed the coaches and future teammates with their playing abilities in a tryout on the Rock Springs WY Western Wyoming campus in November.
Emma who is wearing #12 in the pictures is a center midfielder. She scored 4 goals in her high school career for the Bees of BEHS. She should do very well as either one of our outside midfielders or our true center midfielder. We liked her vision and ability to involve other players with the ball along with her speed of play. Business is listed as a possible major for Emma.
Makayla who is wearing #13 in the pictures usually plays as a defender. We think that she has the knack of getting forward and the skill set to be an outstanding outside back for us. She also has the size and smarts to be a center back if called upon. In high school she scored 2 goals for BEHS. Makayla is thinking of majoring in Business also.
Both Makayla and Emma were part of a very competitive BEHS girl's soccer team. Their high school career even included a great playoff run in the fall 2015 season. That run was cut short in the 4A semi-final match after penalty kicks.
The Barnes sisters were also part of the L30 Crush Blue club soccer team. They participated in various tournaments and were finalists at multiple tournaments through the years. They won more than a handful of tournaments including the President's Cup Nationals in 2014.
We are so happy to have both Emma and Makayla. We know that they are the type of player, student and athlete that will make the Western Wyoming Women's Soccer team better in the years to come. Welcome to the Red, Black and White Mustang family Emma and Makayla and here is to 2 years of success both on and off of the field!
