1st Women's Soccer Recruit of 2017 - Jaclyn Edwards

Jaclyn Edwards a senior at Weber High School in Pleasant View UT has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her soccer playing career at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.

Jaclyn is a defender who primarily plays as a center back.  She was a member of the Warriors girls soccer team with Weber High, receiving on Varsity letter on very good WHS teams.

Edwards played for L30 Crush Blue club soccer team.  She participated in various tournaments and had a ton of success with the Crush team. Jaclyn and the Crush team were finalists at; Vegas MLK Cup 2016, Park City Extreme Cup 2015, President's Cup 2015, Park City 2015 and the President's Cup in 2013.  Jaclyn and the Crush team were champions of the following tournaments;  Utah President's Cup U17 in 2016, La Roca Cup 2015 & 2014, President's Cup Nationals 2014, President's Cup Regionals 2014, Wasatch Gold Division 2014 & 2013 and the President's Cup 2014.

Jaclyn impressed us in her tryout with good quickness, speed foot skills and vision.  Former coaches assess Jaclyn's talents as "Very strong defensively, both physically and mentally.  Kicks left or right consistently 40-50 yards on crosses and clearing the ball."

Edwards will fill an immediate need for the Mustangs as we only return one starting center back from the 2016 team, Vanesa Ramirez.  Jaclyn's physical skills and experience showed make her transition to the NJCAA level fairly easy.  We expect her to push for a starting job and playing time from the moment she steps onto campus in August.  Congratulations to Jaclyn and wishes for a successful soccer career as a Western Wyoming Mustang as she pursues her academic endeavors.
