In another classic battle in Region IX play Western Wyoming hosted Sheridan College Lady Generals.
There was no scoring in the first 45 minutes of play as both teams played to their strengths. The Lady Generals with a high line of defense and WWCC with great defensive shape and dangerous speed to beat the Sheridan defense.
In the second half the teams again played tough but did not find the net. The match changed to WWCC's favor in the 75th minute when a Sheridan player was red carded for an elbow and had to play the remainder of the match down a player. But after 90 minutes the score was still tied at zeroes.
In first overtime WWCC started to see their opportunities to go forward but could not convert. In the second overtime with 8 minutes remaining Alyssia Lee sent a great ball from midfield forward to Madisyn Cantrell show easily chipped it over the keeper. The Cantrell goal was a golden goal meaning it won the match for the Mustangs. The final score was 1 to 0 for WWCC after 102 minutes of play. The win brings the WWCC record to 4 - 7 - 1 and 3 - 3 - 1 in Region IX play.
