On Tuesday night the Mustangs faced of again against the SLCC Bruins. The first time the two teams meet was the opening scrimmage of 2016. Now an official match the Mustangs hoped to improve from their previous match.
The Mustang defense was much improved and found ways to attack the SLCC defense. But the Bruins still held the halftime lead 1 to 0 after a goal in the 41st minute.
Many adjustments were made at halftime and Western evened the score in the 51st minute when a Kenzie Lucas free kick was sent towards the back of the goal and Britney Merritt headed the ball into the net. With the score tied the Lady Bruins changed a few things and opened up the WWCC defense and scored 4 more goals in the match. The SLCC goals came in the 60th, 73rd, 74th and 85th minute. The final score did not demonstrate the steps that the WWCC Mustang program has already taken this year. The final score was SLCC 5 and WWCC 1. The overall record for WWCC is now 2 - 3 - 0.
Mustang Valuable Player: Kenzie Lucas for great play throughout her "homecoming" match and her assist.
