Madisyn Cantrell a senior at Rock Springs High School in
Rock Springs Wyoming has committed to and is ready to play for the Western Wyoming
Community College Women’s soccer team.
Madi has been an integral part of the RSHS Lady Tiger’s
Soccer team that has shown improvement and is earning respect across the state
during her high school career. RSHS has qualified for the Wyoming 4A State Cup
the last 2 years and are determined to make it three years in a row this
spring. We expect Madi to help lead the
Lady Tigers to new heights in the Cowboy State.
Cantrell earned a place on the 4A 2nd Team All
State and 4A West 1st Team All Conference her junior and sophomore
year. 2015, Madi’s junior year, she was
an All Conference forward and her sophomore season, 2014, she was named All
Conference as a midfielder.
In her 3-year high school career Madi has scored 16 goals
and tallied 4 assists for the Tigers. As
a junior she found the back of the net 10 times. As a player, Madisyn is a great combination of
speed and determination. Cantrell’s
skills helped RSHS almost pull off what would have been the upset of the
tournament in the 2015 4A Wyoming State Cup in the first round versus the
eventual champions, Cheyenne East.
Because of Madi’s ability the CEHS girl’s team was so stretched out that
they could not keep defensive pressure on RSHS and it limited their chances. This game would go to overtime between the #1
team in the state and the lowest seeded team in the tournament. We at Western believe that Madi will do a
great job for the Mustangs as a forward who possesses speed and continues to
work on her finishing and she has the willingness to play other positions like an
outside midfielder or even an outside defender. The next two years should be full of excitement
and highlights for Madisyn and the Mustangs.
