Lady Rattlers Strike Early and Often in Both Halves

On Saturday evening in La Junta CO the Western Wyoming Mustangs visited the Region IX leader Otero Junior College Lady Rattlers.

The long road trip and mounting injuries to starters and key contributors for the WWCC team seemed to catch up to them. Otero scored three goals in the first half in the 4th, 6th and 12th minute.  The half time lead was 3 - 0 for OJC.

In the second half the Lady Rattlers put their stamp on the match early with goals in the 48th and 49th minute.  The lead was 5 - 0 for OJC.   Tobin Niebrugge and the Mustangs continued to fight even though they seemed to be outmatched on the day.  Tobin stole a ball around half field in the 57th minute and beat two OJC defenders to get 1v1 against the keeper.  She calmly placed the ball in the top right of the goal for the only goal for Western on the day.  The Lady Rattlers would add three more goals in the second half.  The final score for the match was OJC 8 - WWCC 1.  The loss eliminates Western from any postseason chances.

Mustang Valuable Player: Tobin Niebrugge - Tobin scored our lone goal and was solid throughout the 90 minute match
