In Trinidad CO the Mustangs of Western Wyoming played after a 10 day break between matches against the Lady Trojans of Trinidad State Junior College.
TSJC scored two early goals to damper the spirits of the Mustangs on the day. The Trojans scored a third goal in the 23rd minute to take a 3 - 0 lead into the halftime break. Western played very well despite the deficit on the scoreboard. WWCC seemed to control the field box to box but TSJC seemed to get all the touches and wins within the offensive and defensive 18 yard boxes. That was the difference in the match.
In the second half the Mustangs made adjustments to try to win loose balls in the boxes and stop from giving up easy goals. The Trojans added a 4th goal in the 65th minute. The Mustangs continued to fight and take chances to score. Tobin Niebrugge put a 35 yard free kick on frame that the TSJC parried away in the 89th minute. Aly Sweet was there to easily put back the rebound for a score in the dying moments of the match. The final score was Trinidad 4 - Western 1.
Mustang Valuable Player: Aly Sweet - Scored in back to back games and never gave up on the game.
