The Mustangs played to a slow start against the Lady Trappers from Northwest College on Saturday in Rock Springs. The slow start coupled with a couple of mistakes gave Northwest a 2 - 0 lead after 9 minutes. Northwest scored in the 8th and 9th minute. It took WWCC several minutes to settle down in the match but started to grow in confidence before the break despite being down 2 - 0.
In the second half WWCC played with a ferocity and sense of urgency. This paid off for the Mustangs with two goals in the second half. Melia Dayley scored on a free kick from about 25 yards away in the 58th minute. Heather Proctor scored a header off of a MKenzie Safford corner kick in the 65th minute to tie the match. Opportunities abounded for WWCC in the remaining of the match but after 90 minutes of play with was tied 2 - 2.
For the second time in two days the Mustangs were playing in Overtime. Just like yesterday no goals were scored in the first half of overtime. With about a minute to go Western set up a free kick looking to find the match winning goal. The ball was cleared by Northwest College and sent on a counter attack. The Lady Trapper had some great touches and a few lucky bounces to create a shot that scored with less then a minute to go in the second overtime for a Northwest College win 3 - 2 over Western Wyoming.
