The Mustangs hit the road during mid week to play in Grand Junction CO against the Colorado Mesa Club team. WWCC played a good style of attacking soccer and showed their efficient attack. Two Mustang goals were scored in the first 45 minutes. Melia Dayley was sent a nice pass from Heather Proctor, Melia roofed the keeper from about 25-30 yard away in the 17th minute. Later Aly Sweet was sent a sublime pass from Laura Rodriguez Silva in the 34th minute to take a 2 - 0. That same 2 - 0 lead was the score at halftime.
Western made sure that their defense was sound in the second half and tried to keep offensive pressure on CMU. It looked like perhaps the match would end at 2- 0 until a CMU attacker broke through the WWCC defense and placed a nice shot in the side netting in the 86th minute. Directly off of the restart kickoff MKenzie Safford took advantage of the small field and scored from the kickoff. The 3rd Mustang goal in the 86th minute iced the match. The final score was 3 for WWCC and 1 for Colorado Mesa.
