WWCC Scrimmage vs U of U a Success

On Saturday night on the campus of the University of Utah the Mustangs had their second scrimmage of the 2017 season against the Ute Club team of the U of U.

The Mustangs did a great job of completing passes and connecting from position to position.  Their hard work and confidence paid off with many opportunities for the team.  In the 21st minute of the scrimmage Jaclyn Edwards sent a long ball forward that Yridian Cardenas scooped up and sent past the Ute goal keeper for a WWCC 1 to 0 lead.  The lone goal would be all that was scored in the first half.

In the second half the Mustangs continued to show the fruits of their labor and effort.  Kenzie Lucas scored the second goal of the match in the 52nd minute off of an assist from Claire Morales.  Just when it looked like the Mustangs would keep a clean sheet for the scrimmage the U of U team was awarded a penalty kick which they converted with 9 minutes remaining.  Western shored up their defense and were able to keep the one goal lead for a win in the scrimmage of 2 to 1.

Mustang Valuable Player:  Kenzie Lucas for the great play and the scrimmage winning goal.
