Vanesa Ramirez is set to return to the pitch for the Western Wyoming Community College Women's Soccer team for her sophomore season after re-signing with the Mustangs for the 2017-2018 season. Vanesa is a 2016 graduate from Evanston High School in Evanston Wyoming.
The fall 2016 season was a very good for Vanesa to prove her worth to the team. Vanesa played as a defender almost every minute of every match throughout the entire season. Her stats for the year were; 5 Fouls, 24 Starts and 48 Halves Played. Ramirez started in every match during her freshman campaign and played in every half of the season.
Vanesa filled a very important need for the 2016 Mustangs. She learned how to play center back very quickly for the WWCC team and became a starter and a player that the team could count on.
Vanesa is a Communication Major at WWCC. She is an exceptional student athlete keeping all of her commitments both in the classroom and on the soccer field. Ramirez made the WWCC Dean's Honor Roll both semesters of the 2016 - 2017 season. Western knows that she can continue on the good work in the classroom during her sophomore year at Western.
In the spring scrimmage season Vanesa continued to grow as a player and a leader for the team. Ramirez played in all 4 scrimmages of the spring. In the first 3 scrimmages Ramirez helped the Mustangs only allow 1 goal (off of a penalty kick) in 210 minutes.
In the 2017 season we know that Vanesa could play an outstanding center back with any of the defenders who will be joining us; Kelsey Moffitt, Jaclyn Edwards and Jaden Auger. Vanesa also has the skills and the soccer IQ necessary to help out the Mustangs as an outside back or in the midfield if needed.
Western is so excited to have Vanesa back to help lead the team to new heights in 2017. Welcome Back V!
