Western Welcomes Maylee Thompson

Photos From Star Valley Independent
Maylee Thompson who will soon graduate from Star Valley High in Afton WY has signed a National Letter of Intent to play Women's Soccer at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.

Maylee is a talented player who has a unique combination of size and skill.  She can play a variety of positions with her precision passing, physical play and dribbling ability.

As a member of the Lady Braves Soccer team she has had both individual and team success.  She was a member of the 2016 3A West 1st Team All Conference Soccer team and 3A 1st Team All State Soccer player.  As a junior at SVHS she scored 15 goals and passed for 2 assists.  Currently during her senior year with a month of matches yet to play she has amassed at least 5 goals  and 10 assists.  SVHS and Maylee were consolation champions in the 2016 3A Wyoming State Soccer Cup.  Currently in 2017 Thompson and the Lady Braves are ranked #2 in the state for 3A girls soccer and have a record of 7 wins with 2 losses.  SVHS are also in 1st place in the 3A Southwest Conference.

Maylee played club soccer for the L30 Crush Blue club soccer team in Utah.  Crush and Thompson participated in various tournaments being finalists and winners of multiple tournaments.

At Western we envision Maylee being a big help for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.  She has a nose for the goal and could be utilized as a forward.  Thompson could excel as either a center forward or an outside forward for Western.  With her passing ability and her close control she could also be an excellent midfielder.  She could either be an outside midfielder or a center midfielder to help anchor the middle of the pitch for the Mustangs.

We are excited for the prospect of Maylee Thompson playing for Western Wyoming and stand out as a great student, member of the community and WWCC Mustang Soccer player.
