Yridian Cardenas Joins the WWCC Mustangs

Yridian Cardenas from Salt Lake City Utah and a soon to be graduate from West High has signed a National Letter of Intent to play college soccer with Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY.

Yridian attended a tryout on the Rock Springs campus earlier in the spring to showcase her skills and showed the Western Wyoming coaching staff what type of player she is.  Cardenas impressed all with her quick and powerful shot.

When she was younger Yridian played for Firebirds FC.  She was a member of that comp team from 2009 until 2013.

Yridian mainly played as a central defender for her high school team West High Panthers.  During her senior season Cardenas scored 1 goal for WHS.  West High did not have the success that Yridian had hoped during her final high school year.  Yridian played at West High for three seasons and was Team Captain for 2 years.

At Western we see Yridian transitioning very well and quickly to the college game as she makes quick decisions, passes with pace, has great touch and does not need much time to set up her shots.  We know that she has the skill set and mentality to play as a defender either center back, which was her high school position, or outside defender.  She has the touch, vision and work ethic to be a big part of the midfield if needed.  Due to her speed and incredible shot we also feel that she could be a huge asset to Western as a forward.  Even though her position is not set yet for the 2017 season, Western is so excited to have her a part of the Mustang Soccer family and know that she will be a big part of what the Western Wyo Women are building in their program.
