Porter Brown - First Recruit for 2019 season

Photos and information provided by Brown family

Porter Brown has signed her National Letter of Intent to play collegiate soccer at Western Wyoming Community College.  She is the first player to officially sign for the WWCC Mustang recruiting class of 2019.
Porter is a defender.  She has played both as a center back and an outside back in her career.  WWCC thinks that she will be a great center back for the Mustangs for the next couple of years.
Porter grew up in West Point Utah, she played UYSA for over 10 years and played at the Premier 1 level, all but 1/2 of one of those seasons.

In 2018, her Nitro team was a US Soccer Regional President's Cup Finalist. During her soccer career Porter has played in some big tournaments.  Brown and the Nitro team traveled to Seattle Washington at age 14 to represent Utah at the US Soccer Regional President's Cup, ending as semifinalists.  She has played in many State Cups including a finals appearance at age 16, losing by a goal in overtime.

Porter lettered all four years at Syracuse High on the Titan soccer team.  Porter was a 3 year starter for SHS.  As a freshman, she was voted as the JV MVP. As a Junior she was chosen by coaches and teammates as the Most Inspirational Player.  After the 2018 season, her Senior campaign, she was deemed the Most Coach-able member of the team.

During her high school career with Syracuse High Porter and the Titans had many accolades and accomplishments.  These include; UHSAA playoff team participants in 2015 and 2016, Region 1 Champ (6A) in 2018 and 2017,  2018 UHSAA 6A State semifinalist and 2017 UHSAA 6A State finalist.  In 2018, Porter was a valuable member of the SHS backline who led the state of Utah with only a .5 goals against average and 12 shutouts during the season.  During her senior season Brown started every match and played 1400 minutes.

Porter is on track to graduate from SHS on the High Honor Roll.   Western expects her to take full advantage of her educational opportunities while a student and a Mustang soccer player.

Brown has had huge family support throughout all of her soccer career, not only from her parents but grandparents, aunts, and uncles. There has never been a game when Porter hasn't had support from the sideline, a fact for which she is very grateful. She is also thankful for her coaches; from Nitro - Chris Simmons and from SHS - Coach Allen and Coach Brown.

Western is excited to have such a great competitor join our team.  Porter will be a welcome addition as WWCC will be graduating 3 of the 4 starting defenders from the 2018 team.  Brown will bring leadership and experience to a Mustang team trying to defend their Region 9 Championship.
