WWCC Too Much for TSJC on the day

On Saturday in Rock Springs the Mustangs played against the Lady Trojans of Trinidad State Junior College.  Both schools are currently in second place in their respective division within Region IX.

Western playing in their third home match of the week continued with strong play including a stout defense and a creative attack.  Kylee Manning opened the scoring for the Mustangs in the 40th minute with an assist from Maylee Thompson.  The halftime score was 1 to 0 in favor of the Mustangs.

In the second half WWCC continued their stellar play in both offense and defending their goal.  In the 55th minute Claire Morales scored for the Mustangs, Maylee Thompson added her second assist on the day.  In the 57th minute Western scored a third goal when a Jordan Gibson cross was put in a dangerous situation and a TSJC defender directed it into her own goal for a Lady Trojan own goal.  There would be no more scoring on the day and the final score was WWCC 3 and TSJC 0.  The win lifts the 2018 record to 6 - 4 - 0.  This was the fifth win in a row for the Western Wyo Women's Soccer team.  Markell Freeman and Lindsey Lemmons both saw action in the goal for WWCC.

Mustang Valuable Player:  Markell Freeman - her fifth consecutive clean sheet.  She made 3 saves on the day.
