WWCC Starts 2018 Season with Disappointing Loss

On Wednesday at Rock Springs High School the 2018 Mustangs of Western Wyoming hosted the USU-Eastern Golden Eagles to start the regular season.

USU-Eastern started very quickly and converted on opportunities early and scored in the 6th and 8th minute of play.  The Mustangs just did not seem to have the organization in the attacking half or the speed to keep up with the USU-Eastern attack.  The score at the half was 2 to 0 in favor of USU-Eastern.

After the halftime break the Mustangs played better on both ends of the field.  In the 52nd minute the Mustangs scored when Jaden Auger sent in a free kick in which Maylee Thompson headed into the back of the net.  Just when it seemed the Mustangs were back in the game the Golden Eagles added a third goal in the 54th minute.  There would not be another goal in the match and the final score was 3 to 1 in favor of USU-Eastern.  The loss means that WWCC opens the 2018 season with a 0 - 1 - 0 overall record.

Mustang Valuable Player:  Maylee Thompson - for the lone Mustang goal and 7 shots in the match.
