On Wednesday the WWCC Mustangs concluded their home portion of their schedule while hosting the Lady Trappers from Northwest College. The first meeting between the two teams was an overtime win for the Mustangs. Again in this match the Mustangs dominated the possession and shots but had a difficult time finding the back of the net against a hard playing team.
In the first half the Mustangs scored in the 32nd minute from Kenzie Lucas off of a Maylee Thompson assist. The score line would not change in the first half with Jaclyn Edwards, Vanesa Ramirez, Jessica Arevalo, Kaitlyn Pryor and Lindsey Lemmons of the WWCC defense rarely being tested.
In the second half the insurance goal took some time and effort before Maylee Thompson scored in the 84th minute from a Jaden Auger assist. The final score on sophomore recognition night would be WWCC 2 and NWC 0. Sophomores who played their last home match for WWCC are; Kenzie Lucas, Jessica Arevalo, Britney Nisson, Kelsey Moffitt, Brooke Foster, Madisyn Cantrell, Vanesa Ramirez and Katelin Nielson. The win improves the overall 2017 record to 10 - 7 - 0, tying the WWCC program record for most wins in a season.
