On Saturday the WWCC Mustangs visited Scottsbluff Nebraska for their second match versus the Western Nebraska Lady Cougars for the 2017 season.
Again the WWCC offense was working well, the Mustangs took 32 shots on the day. The first goal was in the 5th minute when Maylee Thompson scored her 3rd goal of the weekend from a Madisyn Cantrell assist. Yridian Cardenas scored the second goal for the Mustangs in the 45th minute from a Katelin Nielson assist. The halftime score was 2 to 0 in favor of WWCC.
With the wind at their backs in the second half the Mustang offense was relentless and scored three more goals on the Lady Cougars in the final 45 minutes of play. In the 47th minute of play Kenzie Lucas scored directly from a corner kick using her natural curve on the ball and the wind. Western's Katelin Nielson scored in the 77th minute from a Maylee Thompson assist. A goal from defender Jaclyn Edwards was the icing on the cake in the 87th minute. The win was the 6th shutout on the season for the Mustangs. The win improves the overall 2017 record to 9 - 7 - 0, one win away from tying the WWCC program record for most wins in a season.
