Britney Merritt a Sophomore Mustang in 2017

Britney Merritt has signed her National Letter of Intent to finish her two years of eligibility at Western Wyoming Community College as a member of the Women's Soccer team.

Britney was a 2016 graduate of Star Valley High School in Afton Wyoming.  As a freshmen member of the 2016 WWCC Mustang team Britney accomplished a lot and had 22 Shots, 2 Goals, 1 Assist, 17 Fouls, 13 Starts and 42 Halves Played.

Merritt played mainly as an attacking player for the 2016 Mustangs seeing a lot of time as an outside midfielder and also as a forward.  She has a good combination of vision, strength, speed and teamwork.  Britney missed a few matches last fall as she acquired a few bumps and bruises during her freshman campaign.  Besides these few missed matches she played in 21 of the teams 24 matches.

Britney's has a powerful shot that she can put on frame from 25 to 30 yards out.  Merritt is also very strong in the air scoring both of her goals on the year via her head.

In the 2017 season we foresee Britney playing as an attacking player again, most likely as a forward.  But we know that she will be capable and willing to play as a midfielder if needed.

This spring Britney was asked to work on combination play, trying to get all of her teammates, especially the other forwards involved with the ball at their feet.  She has put in a lot of work in the off season to improve her foot speed, strengthen her core and improve her balance.

We expect an excellent sophomore season from Britney with lots of leadership and production from her.  Merritt will be busy this summer as she not only will be completing the WWCC summer workouts but she is engaged to WWCC Men's Basketball player Spencer Nisson and they will be married.
