Spring Scrimmage vs Utah Decided by Late PK call

On Saturday in Green River WY the 2017 Spring Mustang Soccer team from Western Wyoming faced off against the Women's Club Soccer team from the University of Utah.

Western Wyoming played a much better first half of the scrimmage then the second half mainly due to the help from the wind in the first half.  Both teams on the day played a very physical brand of soccer.  Neither team had too many chances in the first 45 minutes.  The defense from the Mustangs; Rylee Blacker, Vanessa Ramirez, Kelsey Moffitt, Jessica Arevalo and Maddie Case played very well on the day.

After the halftime break the wind was in the face of the Mustangs and they ended up playing more defense in the last 45 minutes then they wanted to or anticipated after a decent attacking first half.  The lone match of the scrimmage was from a penalty kick. Utah converted the penalty kick in the 85th minute after a Mustang foul in the box.  The final tally was 1 to 0 for the Utes in the first ever meeting between the two teams.

Members of the 2016 team who are continuing to play in the spring 2017 scrimmage season on Saturday were; Rylee Blacker,  Maya Perrin, Jessica Arevalo, Maddie Case, Britney Merritt, Clarissa Barton, Aly Sweet, Shantay Robinson, Brooke Foster and Vanessa Ramirez.  Playing the first time for the Red, Black and White were; Kelsey Moffitt, Ryann Stassinos and Alyssia Coe.
