Last Spring Scrimmage in the Books

On Saturday on the WWCC campus the Spring 2016 Women's Soccer team faced off against an All Star Team.  The scrimmage finished off the spring 2016 season for the Western Wyo Soccer.

The first half had better weather but soccer that was a little rushed and too direct from the Mustangs.  WWCC more than likely controlled the possession and the shots in the first 45 minutes but on a counter attack off of a long drop kick the All Star team scored and took the lead at the break 1 - 0.

The storm clouds gathered at halftime and the rain started to pour.  The rain changed to hail and eventually caused the scrimmage to end 5 minutes early.  But before the weather ended the scrimmage prematurely both teams scored often.  The first score of the second half was an own goal off the Mustangs during an All Star corner kick.  The Mustangs found themselves down by a score of 2 to 0.

The Mustang offense kicked it into gear and found 4 goals before the end of the scrimmage.  The goals were scored from Katelin Nielson, Rachel Richards, Rachel Haskell and MKenzie Safford.  Nielson's goal was assisted by Josie Wiscomb.  The goals from Richards and Haskell were assisted by Aly Sweet.  The Safford goal was unassisted as she scored directly off of a corner kick.  The All Star team added a headed goal in the scrimmage.  The final score was 4 - 3.

The Mustang sophomores who wore the Mustang Red and Black for the last time were; M'Kynlee Gillins, Marlee Child, Melia Dayley, Josie Wiscomb, Heather Proctor, Rachel Richards and Tobin Niebrugge.  Freshmen Katelin Nielson and Rachel Haskell will be departing on LDS missions this summer and we expect them back in the fall of 2018.  Freshmen who will return to help the Mustangs take the next steps to greatness are; Rylee Blacker, MKenzie Safford, Maddie Case, Aly Sweet, Maya Perrin, Shantay Robinson and Isabel Gutierrez.
