WWCC Women’s Soccer Inks Black Butte High School Standout Aly Sweet

Aly Sweet of Rock Springs has signed an NJCAA national letter of intent to continue her soccer career at Western Wyoming Community College.  Sweet, who had other offers to play collegiate soccer, chose to stay home and play for WWCC Coaches Jeff Atkinson and Brady Baldwin.

Sweet said, “Coach Atkinson is a great coach and I am excited to play for him.  Coach Baldwin has been my coach in soccer and softball for much of my U6 through U18 playing.  I love playing for him.”



        The highlights of Sweet’s playing career have been playing as a member of the Great Falls (MT) DUUB’s club team, for outdoor tournaments and futsal tournaments in Spokane, Denver, Boulder and Billings, MT.  This past season the DUUB’s captured second place in the Montana State Cup. This winter Sweet played under Coach Baldwin in a Utah league where her team also placed second.  Additionally, she has played four years of high school soccer.

“Aly is a versatile player who can play forward, wing or midfield.  She has a nice touch and great speed,” said Coach Jeff McLaughlin, DUUB’s coach.  Sweet wore number 11 for DUUB’s and will continue to wear number 11 as a Mustang.
Sweet would like to thank those that have coached her along the way, shaping her into the player she has become:  Brady Baldwin, Jeff McLaughlin, Ben Smith, Dave Stevenson, Heath Lowinske and her High School Girls Soccer Assistant Coach, Ben Jarmin.

“In addition to the support from my family, I have been fortunate to work under these great coaches who truly understand how to motivate athletes while teaching them to be better soccer players and people” she said.

According to WWCC Head Coach Jeff Atkinson, “Aly will fit into any system we choose to play.  Her speed and versatility at any attacking position will help her play many minutes for the Mustangs during her Western career.   We are looking for some offensive punch and know that she can provide it.”

Sweet plans to study Spanish, International Studies and Psychology at WWCC then transfer to a four-year institution to continue her education and her soccer career.
