WNCC Scores in OT to Defeat Western Wyo

On Saturday the Mustangs went to Scottsbluff Nebraska to face old Region IX rivals Western Nebraska Lady Cougars.

The Mustangs offense struggled to create many chances throughout the match.  Western Nebraska created a few more opportunities but the majority of the match was played in the middle of the pitch.  The Cougars took the lead in the match when they scored on a counter attack in the 30th minute.  The lead would stick throughout the rest of the first half.  The score at the break was WNCC 1 and WWCC 0.

In the second half the Mustangs continued to fight to tie the match and found their break in the 88th minute when Hayden Rupe scored from a Karly Conolly assist.  The match was tied at one goal a piece after 90 minutes of play.

In the first overtime period the Mustangs again were victims to a great WNCC counter attack that led to a score.  Western Nebraska scored in the 97th minute to end the match WNCC 2 and WWCC 1.  The heartbreaking OT loss was their third Region IX overtime match of the season and their second overtime defeat.  The defeat on the day also stopped the Mustangs five match winning streak.  The loss brings the 2019 overall record for the Mustangs to 8 - 5 - 0 and the Region IX record to 4 - 3 - 0.
