Mustangs Use Strong Second Half to Pull Away from Trappers

On Saturday afternoon in Powell Wyoming the Mustangs faced off against the Lady Trappers of Northwest College.  This is the second time the two teams played this season.  Today's match is the one that counts for Region IX standings.

The Trappers started the scoring on the day when they took a one goal lead in the 13th minute with their goal.  Kylee Manning equalized the score with a goal in the 22nd minute with the assist coming from Abbie Riley.  Northwest was very motivated on the day and took their second lead when they scored in the 28th minute.  Karly Conolly evened the scoreline again for the two teams when she scored in the 45th minute from a Taya Merrell assist.  After a wild first half the score was even 2 - 2.

The next half was more one sided in favor of the Mustangs but the Trappers made them work for it.  The go ahead goal for the Mustangs did not come until the 70th minute when Kylee Manning scored her brace for the day from a Sydney Simmons assist.  The scoring continued for the Mustangs when their next goal was scored in the 77th minute from Lexi Chenoweth, a Hayden Rupe assist.  Karly Conolly continued with her outstanding weekend when she added her second goal on the day (6th goal of the weekend) when she scored in the 80th minute.  The final goal came in the 86th minute which was an own goal.  The final score was WWCC 6 and NWC 2.  The win brings the WWCC 2019 overall record to 5 - 4 - 0 and the 2019 Region IX record to 2 - 2 - 0.

Mustang Valuable Player: Kylee Manning - Kylee not only scored a brace on the day but brought the intensity for the team.
