Western Wyo Does Enough to Win Versus WNCC

On Friday in Rock Springs WY at the Rock Springs High School Tiger turf the Mustangs played against the Lady Cougars of Western Nebraska CC.  Both teams are in Region IX of NJCAA Soccer but the Mustangs are part of the Region IX North while the Cougars are members of the Region IX South.

For the entire match the Mustangs peppered the WNCC goal with shots.  Western had 28 shots and 12 shots on goal.  The players who had multiple shots in the match were Kenzie Lucas, Yridian Cardenas, Emma Barnes, MaKayla Barnes, Maylee Thompson, Madisyn Cantrell and Jaden Auger. 

The lone breakthrough in the match for goals came in the 49th minute when Maylee Thompson provided a nice pass to Madisyn Cantrell who squeezed the ball past the keeper.  Madeline Kendrick played all 90 minutes as keeper for the Mustangs, she had 2 saves and earned a shutout along with the WWCC defense.  The win helps bring the Mustang's overall record to 3 - 4 - 0.
