Defender Jessica Arevalo back with the Mustangs

Jessica Arevalo from South Ogden Utah has just completed her second semester at Western Wyoming and has once again signed a National Letter of Intent to play her sophomore season for the Mustangs.  Jessica is a 2016 graduate from Layton Christian Academy in Layton Utah.

Jessica had a stellar freshman career.  Starting every match of her initial season usually as a left back.  Jessica was occasionally asked to provide help for the WWCC defense as a center back from time to time and she do so very well.  Even on a few rare occasions Jessica is comfortable as an attacking player, having scores a lot of goals in her high school and club soccer playing career.  Not only was Jessica versatile for the team but she was very consistent in her play and availability.  As a freshman for Arevalo had the following stats; 4 Shots, 7 Foul, 24 Starts and 48 Halves Played.  Jessica started and played in every match and half of the 2016 fall season.  As a reward for he superb play Jessica was nominated for and voted in as a member of the Region IX Honorable Mention team for 2016.  She was also voted by her teammates as the 2016 WWCC Defensive MVP.

In the spring of 2017 Jessica has continue to show quiet and confident play and leadership for the Mustangs.  Jessica played great minutes for WWCC in all of the spring scrimmages.  Often anchoring down a back line with little to no practice together.  The WWCC defense held their opponents in the spring to only 1 goal in 3 matches and that goal being a penalty kick.

As we look forward to the fall 2017 season and we know that Jessica will continue her style of play with the quality of an All Region player for Western.  Western will continue to need her to be one tough defender and a communicator along the back line.

Jessica is a Nursing major at Western Wyoming and does a great job balancing her time as a student athlete.  Jessica was on the Dean's Honor Roll in her first semester at Western after the fall 2016 semester.

Congratulations on a great first year wearing the Red, Black and White and welcome back to Jessica Arevalo.
