Markell Freeman has signed her National Letter of Intent for Women’s Soccer to play for Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs WY. Markell is from Honeyville Utah and will graduate from Box Elder High in Brigham City UT this spring.
Freeman is a goalkeeper and will join two returning keepers
for one of the most talented group of shot stoppers in the region. Returning for the Mustangs in 2018 in goal
will be Lindsey Lemmons and Madeline Kendrick.
In 2017 the WWCC team was 21st in the NJCAA with 9 shutouts
and 61st in the NJCAA with 96 saves.
Markell has enjoyed a wealth of success with her past
teams. With the L30 Crush Blue Club team she was
part of the 2014 President’s Cup National Champions. Markell was also a member of the President’s
Cup Regional Champions in 2015 and 2016.
Freeman also participated as a Utah 4A State semifinalist with Box Elder
in 2015.
Along with her team and club accomplishments her talent, hard
work and dedication has not gone unnoticed, as she has picked up several
individual awards. Markell was named to
the Northern Utah All-Area team in 2015, 2016 and 2017. She was part of the Utah ODP in 2013, 2014
and 2015. With the Box Elder Lady Bees
she earned a varsity letter in all 4 years of her high school career. In 2016 she was named the BEHS most valuable
player. Freeman was named the defensive
most valuable player for BEHS during her senior season of 2017. In 2017 the Salt Lake Tribune also named her
to the 5A Honorable Mention All-State team.
Markell Freeman is a tall, athletic keeper who commands her
box and can make acrobatic saves if called upon. Western Wyoming is so happy to add her to the
2018 roster, as we know she can help the team both her freshman and sophomore
years. We look forward to a very
promising WWCC soccer career for Markell Freeman.
