The 2015 version of the Western Wyoming Women's soccer team kicked off their fall campaign by competing with alumni from the program's past. The scrimmage took place at Rock Springs Junior High on Saturday August 8th.
The scrimmage was very beneficial for the Mustangs as 21 of the 22 players saw action with most playing 45 minutes. Western was able to use four different lineups with most players hitting the field at two different positions.
On the day there were more positives for the Mustangs then there were negatives. The 2015 sophomores were able to show their experience and poise throughout the scrimmage. The freshmen showed their skill, versatility and athleticism.
The lone goal during the scrimmage came from the alumni during the second half. The Mustangs showed some flashes of offense during the match and had a couple of legitimate chances to tie up the match. The 2015 Mustangs will continue their training camp 2-a-day schedule next week while also preparing for a second scrimmage against NCAA Division I Southern Utah.
Mustang Valuable Player: Nicole Tew - Controlled the middle of the pitch both as a midfielder and a defender.
