Sheridan Escape with 3 Points from Rock Springs

Photos from Jen Atkinson
On Saturday in Rock Springs the Mustangs faced the Lady Generals from Sheridan College less than 24 hours after their heart wrenching loss to Gillette in double overtime.

Western Wyo lacked some intensity on the day and played pretty flat as a group.  The Mustangs lacked a punch on the offensive end and made some errors on the defensive end that helped out the Generals.  Sheridan scored first on the day when they put the ball in the back of the net in the 29th minute of play.  In the last five minutes of play in the half the Mustangs were fouled in the penalty area and Cassie Southwick scored the penalty kick goal in the 41st minute of play to even the scoreline at 1 goal a piece at the end of the first half.

In the second half the Mustangs found themselves in a hole in the 61st minute when Sheridan scored again.  In the remaining half an hour the Mustangs could not find an equalizing goal.  The final score for the match was Sheridan 2 and WWCC 1.  This loss puts the Mustangs below .500 for the 2019 season at 3 - 4 - 0 and at 0 - 2 - 0 in Region IX play.

Mustang Valuable Player: Cassie Southwick - she scored the lone goal of the day for the Mustangs.
