Finding possession and room in the Cougar's box. The fast start paid off as Maddie Case scored her first goal of the year in the 4th minute off of a Maya Perrin assist. The Case goal would be the only scoring in the first half. The halftime score was 1 to 0 for the Mustangs.
In the second half the Mustangs continued to dominate play and found their second goal in the 63rd minute from an Alyssia Lee free-kick that completely beat the WNCC. To the Cougar's credit they did not give up and they continued to fight and cut the lead in half with a goal in the 85th minute. The Mustangs would hang on for the 2 to 1 win over the Cougars. The win lifts the 2016 overall record to 3 - 5 - 1 and the Region IX record to 2 - 2 - 1.Mustang Valuable Player: Maddie Case for her early goal at setting the attacking tone for the rest of the match.
